Meet Terri Wheeler, who has been a valued member of the Charles Lea Center team for 21 years, dedicating her career to helping individuals build independence and achieve meaningful employment. As Community Employment Services Lead, Terri plays an important role in supporting both staff and the individuals served through the organization’s employment programs.

Terri says the most rewarding part of her work is the people she supports. Each day, she finds fulfillment in helping individuals strengthen their independence, develop self-advocacy skills, and grow along their personal career paths.

Her inspiration for working at the Charles Lea Center comes from a strong desire to help individuals improve their quality of life and reach their personal goals. That motivation has remained at the center of her work throughout her more than two decades with the organization.

In her role, Terri serves as a liaison between the Director and staff, helping to ensure that Career Preparation and Employment Group programs operate effectively and efficiently. She also works to maintain compliance with Charles Lea Center and OIDD standards, supporting the overall success of Employment Services. In addition, she provides support in Employment Individual Services.

Terri graduated from Spartanburg High School and continued her education at Spartanburg Technical College, where she studied Business Administration with a Medical Option.

Outside of work, Terri enjoys singing, shopping, and jewelry. She has been married for 24 years and is the proud Nana of two grandsons. In addition, Terri serves her community as a licensed minister.

The Charles Lea Center is grateful for Terri’s many years of dedication and for the positive impact she continues to make in the lives of the people supported through Employment Services. 💚
