Charles Lea Center Certificate of Incorporation

elebrating 60 Years of Impact!

🎉

Today kicks off a truly momentous celebration - 60 incredible years of the Charles Lea Center empowering lives and providing innovative, compassionate support to people with disabilities across Spartanburg County!

🥳

In 1965, a bold and compassionate step was taken by community leaders when a certificate of incorporation was filed with the state of South Carolina to establish what was then called the Spartanburg County Rehabilitation and Special Education Center, Inc., marking the formal beginnings of the Charles Lea Center. At a time when few communities offered services for individuals with disabilities, Spartanburg chose to lead.

Our mission remains the same today as it was then - to support individuals in living full, meaningful, and productive lives through services that are both compassionate and forward-thinking.

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing stories that honor our past, celebrate our present, and look ahead to our future. One thing has never changed - Spartanburg’s unmatched love and support for people with disabilities.

We’re grateful to be part of a community with the vision and heart to create something as extraordinary as the Charles Lea Center. Over the next few months, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on the incredible stories and moments that have shaped the Charles Lea Center throughout the past 60 years. We’d love for you to be part of the celebration - share your favorite CLC memories with us in the comments or by emailing info@charleslea.org!
